I love my job and I love my IA family!

I love working with our clients, helping them work through difficult problems, challenging them to think differently about their work. And because I love my job so much, I work…a lot. In fact, everyone at IA tends to give their all to our clients, leaving less time than we’d like for internal connection and innovation of our business.

As much as we like to believe that “powering through” is the best way to be successful, the truth is that there is a law of diminishing returns with work. Unless we carve out some time to take care of ourselves and recharge, we run the risk of burning out, which can impact our work performance and our personal relationships.

So, with that in mind, IA is on its Spring Retreat this week in beautiful Southern Utah. Because we all work remotely, we seldom get to see each other in person – unless we are on a client together (oh and traveling), so we are coming together to learn, connect, and rejuvenate. And we may just have a chance to have a little fun while we’re doing it.

When we are back at work full-time next week, we will be ready to tackle the next part of the year, focused and energized to help our clients with renewed enthusiasm.

See you in a week!

With warm regards,

On Our Radar

It’s been a tough 2023 so far, with continued challenges facing businesses around the world. Given the theme of this month’s newsletter, we thought we’d share the more human side of things this month:

  • One of the contributing factors of burnout is meetings, particularly of the online kind. Anyone who has sat through back-to-back video calls for 8 hours understands the mental toll this takes. One organization decided to try something new – eliminating meetings from the schedule. We were intrigued, but also curious how this would work with clients. What do you think?
  • Whenever you hear about personal development and business success, experts often point to the need for “self-confidence.” That’s all very well and good; however, self-confidence isn’t entirely reliant on how YOU feel – it also depends on how others perceive you, and women are not faring as well as they should.
  • We are a sucker for a good Adam Grant insight, and if you’re struggling with setting boundaries, this tip for email communication might be just what you’re looking for.
